Mission: To assist our Father in Heaven in helping His children with Temple and Family History Work and making it an active part of their lives and the lives of their children.
Areas of Focus:
• To have every family member to have their own FamilySearch account from ages 11 and up and to complete simple fun activities regularly.
• To encourage Members (11 and up) to start to work on, develop, add onto and potentially complete their 4-generation family tree within 12 months.
• To encourage members to have an active temple recommended and to encourage members, new members and youth to participate in Temple ordinances.
• Relief Society, Elders Quorum, Young Men, Young Women, and Primary organization leaders will establish class and quorum goals to complete during the year.
Tools to Teach and to Use:
• FamilySearch apps: (FamilyTree; Memories; Get Involved)
• FamilySearch center lessons are available. 1st Thursday of the month in Spanish and 3rd Thursday of the month in English @ the Douglas Chapel at 7pm.
• Temple and Family History Consultants will have a sign up roster in teaching how to do Family history work (indexing, research and finding family names etc.) and how to use the apps. Roster available on Ward Bulletin.
Ward Members and Organizations Goals and Action Steps to Completing Plan
The following are ideas and specific actions that each member, family, and organization can take to participate in temple and family history work as discussed in Ward Council and in connection with the Temple and Family History Coordination Council.
Ward Members and Families:
• Make personal goals for Temple and Family History Work (could include temple attendance, reading/adding family memories, indexing, name submission for temple work, personal history) • Each family member have their own Family Search account including youth
• Complete 4 generations in Family Search
• Take temple preparation classes Receive/maintain a current temple recommend • Download, learn, and use Family Search apps.
• Focus on Temple and Family History in ministering and ministering interviews
Temple & Family History Consultants:
• Receive and Maintain Training
• Help families and individuals create accounts, do indexing, and make progress • Schedule workshops covering topics like online research, record interpretation, and family tree building-(complete a certain number each quarter)
• Provide resources, including access to genealogy databases.
• Collect feedback for continuous improvement and future workshop planning.(quarterly) • Assess members’ current genealogy knowledge and skill levels.
• Offer one-on-one assistance during and after workshops.
Youth Involvement:
• Share Temple/Family History/Missionary “minute” each class/activity- Ask for experiences/share a short thought or training.
• Include fun challenges or competitions related to Temple/Family History work/Training into activity nights. (Recognize and celebrate youth achievements in Temple and Family History work once each quarter).
• Have PRIMARY activities centered on introduction to Temple and Family history work.
Ward Events:
• Ward Temple Trips (Quarterly)
• Monthly Temple Trips to Juarez (those members willing and able)
• Youth Temple Trips (Quarterly)
• Temple Preparation Classes (Ongoing throughout the year)

• Creation of Ward Temple and Family History Plan
• Identify families and individuals that should be invited to Temple Preparation Classes taught by Bro. and Sis. Nielson
• Extend invitations to attend classes to prepare to enter the temple and make covenants with our Father in Heaven
February
• Temple and Family History Coordination Meeting
• Temple and Family History Consultants start working with families identified in Ward Council that need to create FamilySearch accounts
• Ward Temple Trip Feb. 24th to ABQ Temple, 6:30 am departure time
• Talk in Sacrament Meeting about the importance of Uniting Families for Eternity
March
• RootsTech Convention: All temple and family history consultants, ward temple and family history leader, elders quorum presidency member, Relief Society presidency member, primary presidency member, YW class presidency member, and 1st assistant in priests quorum needs to view specific sessions/conference
• Temple and Family History Coordination Meeting to plan for 5th Sunday information during second hour
• Ministering interviews to discuss how individuals and families are doing on their temple and family history work
April
• Temple and Family History Coordination Meeting
• 1-2 members receiving their endowment at the ABQ temple during ward temple trip • Ward Temple Trip April 20th to ABQ temple; 6:30 am departure time
