We start with the living, with ourselves, our family and our friends and neighbors, and then build a connection with our deceased family members in FamilySearch.org
We start with ourselves and our immediate family as we accept the baptismal covenant and renew this covenant each Sunday as we partake of the Sacrament. We then prepare to enter the temple to make other covenants along the Covernant Path.
We reach out to our friends and neighbors to friendship them, teach them, and invite them to come unto Christ and enter into covenants with Him. As a family, even with primary-age children, we learn and put into practice the principles of Love, Share and Invite to help make others feel welcome and accept our invitations to come and see, to come and help and to come and belong, and to stay with us at Church.
We reach out to our deceased family members to find our relationship with them, understand who they became in mortality, and do for them that which they cannot now do for themselves. We do this by using tools such as FamilySearch.org to do the research necessary to uniquely and reliably confirm their identity and our relationship to them.
Then, we go the the Temple, the House of the Lord, on a regular basis and perform the ordinaces they need to return to the presence of our Father in Heaven. Each time we go to the temple and participate in Temple ordinances, we bind ourselves and our extended family ever closer to our Savior and therby strengthen ourselves and our family. As we include our friends and neighbors in this work, we draw closer to our Father in Heaven, for we are truly joining with him in His work, “to bring to bring to pass the immrtality and eternal life of man.” (Moses 1:39, Pearl of Great Price)
